Marc Garneau, Federal Deputy, Ville-Marie
Marc Garneau, Federal Deputy, Ville-Marie
During the 2008 Federal Campaign, we had contacted candidates to the election to inform them about the banning of dogs on the Old Port territory and seek their support in order to find some compromise with this federal corporation.
The only response we received was from Marc Garneau. As a dog owner himself, he claims to understand our concern. If elected, he promised to contact Mrs. Claude Benoit CEO of Old Port of Montréal Corporation and, if necessary, the Minister of Transport.
Mr. Garneau was elected and he kept his promise. Mrs. Benoit’s decision to ban dogs from the Old Port territory being unnegotiable, our deputy decided then to wrote a letter to Mr. John Baird, Minister of Transport.
Following are Marc Garneau’s letter to John Baird, Mr. Baird’s response, which copy was sent to us by Mr. Garneau with his letter on May 19, 2009.
