Park Pilote
Park Pilote
a dog park in Old Montréal
Our dog park
The dog park project we proposed on November 21, 2006, to Catherine Sévigny, City Counsellor – Borough Ville-Marie, was finalized ten months later with the Official Opening on September 20, 2007. From now on, residents, workers and visitors of Old Montréal can enjoy this beautiful park and give some freedom to their best friends.
But, before taking your dog to the Pilote park, we strongly recommend that you read the rules. Then, feel free to go and enjoy it!

“Pilote” Project
Our City Counsellor, Catherine Sévigny, asked us to find a name for the dog park we officially opened in September 2007 instead of calling it Duke-Brennan dog park. We consulted our members and Jean Lessard directed us towards the dog appearing at the bottom of the monument dedicated to de Maisonneuve at Place d’Armes. We then discovered that she was Lambert-Closse’s companion, that her name is Pilote and that she was a hero! So, since we live in an historic area and that Pilote’s history is part of it, we sent a request to the Toponymy Division in order to have the dog park officially registered as parc Pilote.
First Iroquois Assault
(translated from grandquebec.com)
During the first two years of Ville-Marie, the early settlers succeeded in their fight against the Iroquois mainly because of the fort built for their protection. But, during the night of March 30, 1644 Lambert-Closse’s dog, Pilote, barked to warn the inhabitants of an impending Iroquois attack.
In 2004,Télé-Québec broadcasted L’Amérique française, a superb document produced by EdiZoom from which comes this video about Pilote with Luck Merville.
For our little story, here are photos related to the evolution of parc Pilote
